More invention required to get rid of mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are one of the world's most deadliest animals as they're known to cause diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Zika, Chikungunya, etc. It's unbelievable that they kill hundreds of thousands of people every single year, more than all the deadly wars that we have recently had.
To emphasize how serious the issue is, I'd like to share this eye-opening infographic from Gates Notes that demonstrates how deadly mosquitoes are.
And now that we have developed a base, let's now talk about staying safe from mosquitoes.
I think, we're not taking these little monsters seriously, at least not any more. According to me, we should spend more time and effort in coming up with solutions, tools, techniques, or any other kinds of environment-friendly inventions that can save the humanity from them.
If you take a look at the current solutions to save ourselves from mosquito stings, there are only a few:
- Mosquito nets
- Anti-mosquito sprays
- Electric vaporizers
- Mosquito rackets, etc.
And these are not always efficient. For example, nets are effective but only when you're sleeping, anti-mosquito sprays and vaporizers are made of chemicals and frequent usage harm us, rackets are effective only if you're dealing with 1-2 mosquitoes in a room.
Currently, I don't see even a single solution that can get rid of mosquitoes from inside the house without harming us or the environment.
My point is, if these creatures are so monstrous then why are we not spending more budget for coming up with futuristic solutions to save ourselves? Why are we not making some hi-tech infrared or ultraviolet rays or waves emitters that keep mosquitoes far away from our homes?
I think, it's extremely important to think about this.
