Culture evolves
In your lifetime in India, you must have heard people uttering phrases like below:
- kids these days are forgetting their culture
- they are following all the western cultures
- modern clothes are useless, we should follow our traditional Indian attire
and blah bla bla...
But the reality is they talk about the "specific" things in the "specific" timeframe. For example, if our immediate ancestors wore dhotis and sarees, then there must be older ancestors who wore something else, right? And if older ancestors wore something else but it later changed to dhotis and sarees, then the culture evolved, right?
What are we fighting for then? Why are we not understanding the fact that the "change" is bound to happen?
Change is the only constant in the world.
So... I think, you will also agree that it's all politics to keep people confused to rule over them. "They" do not wish for us to be confident, they wish to keep us intertwined in the confusion and then keep running their "shop".
I am not saying that all current things are good, but we need to accept that things change with time. We shouldn't feel guilty about everything that we do, we need to keep moving forward with confidence.
In fact, in a way, trying to preserve the culture is okay to me, but taking it to the extreme isn't going to do any good.
